Stampotique Designer's Challenge - Alter Something

Time for another ~{Stampotique Designer's Challenge}~ and this time it's ~{Kate}~ setting it. She would like you to alter something. I had a rummage through my stuff and found a birdhouse that's been neglected for about 2 years!! I'm sure everyone has a few things that you just haven't got round to doing.

The size of this is perfect for ~{Birdy Shoes}~ who looks like he makes you take your sneakers off before going into his house!

I used texture paste on the roof and stamped ~{Tangled}~ into it while wet. I also used it for the base. The house has been painted with acrylic paints and shaded using chalks. I've added a border of flowers that I cut from ~{Birds of a Feather}~. All stamping has been coloured with Copics.

Tando Flip List

I've started making gifts to try and be organised for once in my life and have begun by making a Flip List Book using two of the ~{Home Sweet Home}~ houses from ~{Tando-Creative}~. It's a bit tricky to take photos of it all in one!

I've covered both sides of the houses with pattered papers and sanded the edges, then embossed a ~{Wavy Twinchie}~, painted it white and inked the pattern. I've painted a dragonfly from ~{Bug Set 1 small}~ and 2 butterflies from the ~{Butterfly Grab Bag}~ then stamped them and inked the edges.I've cut some paper to size and then bound it all together, adding ribbons and beads and charms.

Guess who missed the Gingersnaps?!

Yep I did!! It's the third week of ~{Stampotique}~ sponsoring ~{Gingersnaps Creations}~ and I made the card in good time as it was for my Nan's 97th birthday, but forgot to send it over to go on their blog. So now I'm going to link it over there anyway!

The challenge is to use your favourite papers which is a tough one to choose, but seeing as the theme is to use scraps, I thought I'd see which papers I had saved the smallest scraps from and it's Basic Grey Euphoria.

I have stamped onto the scraps and cut out the images. The stamps I used are:

~{Starbird with chick}~ I used the chick, and
~{Happy Birthday}~.

Journalling

I've been doing a few pages in a new journal that I got for 2012. I thought it would be good to see how I'm progressing as the year goes by. I'm using a couple of inspiration sites that have started this month, but I'm only doing the prompts that say something to me as I'd never keep up with either on their own!

This is using ~{Effy Wild's Book of Days}~, the prompt being: what are you looking forward to this year and use a tag.

I went for a very neutral page using colour on the tag only. The head is ~{Clover}~ by Stampotique and the swirls are Autumn Leaves. The rest is doodling and shading.

The tag is a base of Distress Stains with stamps I think by Paperartsy and doodling using a new colour ink and dipping pen. I LOVE the Olympics, always watch it and we got tickets to see some swimming and I can't wait. We did apply for lots, but are happy to even get to one event.

This next page is inspired by ~{Milliande's Seed Journal Day 5}~ I've enjoyed watching Milliande make art on YouTube for a couple of years now. She makes it look so simple!!

I've used acrylic paints and white gesso for this and added white and black pen for the rest. It was so much fun to do. I've added a quote I like - I do the art journal for me, some pages might not be great and won't be shown, but it's the fun I have making them. This idea has been carried over onto this next page, using another quote that is true for me

This was done in a completely different style to what I usually do, but I enjoyed it. Creating pages is a distraction from feeling pants!

As I'm lucky enough to be on the DT for ~{Tando}~ I get lots of goodies to play with which means that chipboard I have from other companies gets forgotten about, so I thought I'd have a sort out before Christmas. I found these letters that came from a kit and having seen something similar on ~{Pinterest}~ (I LOVE that site) I thought I'd make this:

It was so quick and simple - white acrylic paint and a canvas - perfect for my bedroom.

Another week of sponsoring ~{Gingersnaps Creations}~ and this time, still with the theme of using scraps, it's Ribbon. I've been hanging on to the last of this lovely lime green ribbon for ages and just about managed to get it around the card by sticking some paper over the top!!

~{Happy Birthday}~ and added borders with lime green ink and a bit of doodling. I try not to do it all the time, but then I think it needs a frame so the pen comes out!

Stampotique Designer's Challenge - Handbag Calendar

It's the first challenge of the year from the ~{Stampotique Designer's Challenge}~ and it's the turn of ~{Maria}~ to set it. She has asked us to make a handbag calendar and I'm afraid I cheated to make it easy and bought a small diary! For me, this is the best option!

I covered it with some MME paper and then set to work with stamps and pens. The stamps I have used are:
~{Art Angels}~ I adore this stamp.
~{Splatter Long}~ and
~{Random Acts Alphabet}~ for the numbers.

After I'd doodled the border, I used my new ink to make a blob and small puddle and then added some glossy accents for dimension, but that's not easy to see on the photo.

From now on, ALL Challenges will be to use Stampotique stamps, but you will still be able to win a $30 Gift Certificate to spend in the ~{Stampotique Store}~ if you are picked at random; then you can treat yourself to more!!

Tando Steampunk

Thank goodness for Steampunk to help out with those awkward male cards and I've used a few lovely chipboard pieces from ~{Tando}~

For the chipboard, I used Viva Decor Croco in Bronze and Transparent, Viva Decor Inca Gold and a Versamagic inkpad and applied them in different orders to get different effects. The chipboard took a good battering again from me as I attacked them with the heatgun. As you do.
I've used ~{Steampunk Wings and Cogs}~, ~{Cogs, Small}~ and ~{Set of 5 Keys}~.
The text stamp is by Hero Arts, man by Paperartsy and the greeting is a very old one.

DCM - Colour Challenge

I can't remember the last time I did a ~{DCM~}, but my resolution of being more organised is still working - I think 7 days is pretty good - so I'm joining in.

I can't remember where I got the main stamp from as I've had it an age and never used it before, but I've coloured it with Copics. I've also used my new Nestie die that was in the sale, some MME patterned paper, lace and ~{Happy Birthday}~ stamp by Stampotique.

Tando Challenge ~ Ice White

Happy New Year!!

It's straight back to challenges now the festivities are over and, to start with, it's the ~{Tando-Creative Challenge}~. This month the theme is 'Ice White' and I altered one of those crafting must-haves, the Ikea mirror. I think most crafters have one or two of these lurking waiting to be 'done'!

I did a journal page

I did a base of acrylic paint and gesso through the Tando Random Circles mask, then added a lot of stamping and doodling. I've used the following stamps:

Tando Challenge ~ Winter Festivals

The ~{Tando-Creative Challenge}~ for December is Winter Festivals as not everybody celebrates Christmas. I used the ~{Small 3D Angel}~ and, rather than make it 3D like I did ~{here}~ with the larger angel, I turned it into tree decorations.

Anyone who has tried taking photos of a Christmas tree will appreciate that these are not the best photos!!

I cover them with patterned papers and painted the edges white, then added some Viva Decor Glitter Pen for sparkle.

As only one angel has wings included and some of my tree lights are feathery stars, I used feathers for the wings

I finished off the bottom with a few dangly beads.

I've even used the base and halo to make a decoration.

Stampotique Designer's Challenge - Glimmer and Glitter

It's the last ~{Stampotique Designer's Challenge}~ before Christmas and ~{Val}~ has asked us to:
"break out our "Shimmer, Glimmer, Glitter and Glitz" using shimmery paper, glittery embellishments, glimmery paints/washes/spritz or any kind of glitzy bling in your creations....let your inspiration shine!"

I made a little ATC this time:

I've used ~{Brrr...}~ coloured with Copics and added ~{Weasel's}~ sign behind a chipboard snowflake with a layer of glitter on the top. It's not easy taking photos of glitter and glimmer to show it at it's best!!

The base of the ATC uses the Snowflake Mask by Tando and lots of glitter and doodling of course!

This is the very last Stampotique challenge where you can use ANY stamp. After this, it will be Stampotique stamps only.

This year's tags

Still not a lot of creating happening here as I'm concentrating on getting organised. However, slobbing on the sofa doesn't seem to be getting the jobs done.

I did get the tags finished off ready for wrapping the gifts.

I've used ~{Snowman}~ who still remains my most favourite Christmas stamp ever and ~{Snowy Fran}~ I made them to match the card I made ~{here}~
The other tags are made layering up some embossed tags with a die cut snowflake (both by Cuttlebug) skeleton leaves fibres and flowers.

Some Journal Pages

Here's a few journal pages that I've done over the last few weeks following the prompts I've set on the Bubblyfunk Forum. We've been using quotes as a starting point.

This one has used the ~{Tando Random Circles Mask}~ and Stampotique's ~{Smumanha's}~ head. The arms and legs came from ~{Tracy}~ at our retreat where we swap things we won't use and the mozzies are really dragonflies, but we won't tell them.

if only .... sigh

This one uses different sizes from the ~{Tando Sequin Waste Mask}~, part of the ~{Lovely Wings}~ and ~{Clover}~ both by Stampotique. The body is cut from a mag.

this could account for a lot of things!

I cheated a bit with this prompt as I have been at my sister's for a week and I just don't craft much there at the moment, so I said to use text of some form, flowers and circles. I stuck the book pages on and gave them a thin covering of gesso at home and then took just Inktense pencils and some pens.

Stampotique Designer's Challenge - Non-traditional Christmas Card

It's another ~{Stampotique Designer's Challenge}~ and this time it's the turn of the very talented ~{Vicki}~ to set it. She would like you to make a Christmas card without using the traditional colours of red and green.

I have made very few Christmas cards this year. Life's too short to be getting my knickers in a twist each year panicking that I need to make them all and so I bought some after last Christmas! I did enjoy making this one though.

I'm being sneaky on this one as I don't often make red and green cards and I already had these brown and blue Christmas papers! So I've used a non-traditional stamp to make my tree.

I've used ~{Pretty Party Dress}~ stamped onto the papers and cut out the layers individually. I've doodled on the part of the layer that had no border around it so that each piece matches. I've then drawn onto the stamped image for the top 3 layers as below:

.... and again cut them and doodled the borders. I stuck them on with a little gap between each piece and then finished off with ~{Text Star with Tiny Star}~ stamped onto one of the papers and a doodled border.

Sheldon's purrfect kitty

This post will only make sense to those who watch The Big Bang Theory. When I saw the ~{Nerd Cat}~ stamp on the new release, I knew it would be perfect for a little something for my nieces. Not saying they are nerds, it's just we appreciate the geek as their dad inks and writes for comic books and it seeps into everyday living!!

I used one of Tando's ~{Gothic Arches}~ to make this piece and I painted it with gesso which I then heated to get this gorgeous bubbly texture before painting with acrylic paints. I used ~{Mesh}~ on the background and spray ink and lots of doodles before adding the image and verse.

I got the gesso VERY hot to make it bubble as much as possible and it had no effect on the chipboard base. It remained flat and had no bend in it at all, which is one of the reasons I love using ~{Tando}~ products - they can take a bit of Kaz battering as I am not know for being delicate!

Tando Wonky Trees

These little trees from the ~{Grab Bag of Wonky Trees}~ from ~{Tando}~ are perfect for cards and tags and are so funky.

I've just glued patterned paper on them, coloured the sides and doodled a border before attaching them. I've finished them off with some glitter glue on the teeny stars and die cut snowflakes.

It's time for another ~{Stampotique Designer's Challenge}~ this time set by ~{Lisa}~ and she has given us a sketch to work from.

I used ~{Tulip}~ one of the latest release stamps by Maryse Carrier and did a cute card. I coloured it with Copics and added ribbons for the strips, finishing off with a butterfly charm and a ~{Happy Birthday}~ greeting.

This time you can use any stamps, but obviously, if you have Stampotique's it would be great to see them. Tando Challenge ~ Brown and Blue

This month's challenge on the ~{Tando-Challenge Blog} ~ is to use brown and blue - always a good combination in my eyes. I made a mini canvas, it's 5 x 5 inches.

I've used the ~{Mini House and Fence Pack}~ and glued book pages to the houses and painted the roofs with acrylic paint before using Glossy Accents on them. I used a cotton bud to add ink to the edges of the houses. The fences are just painted.
I took one of the words from the ~{Home Sweet Home Plaque}~ and painted and Glossy Accented that.
The base of the canvas is acrylic paint with an inked edge. I thought the edge looked too heavy so I've wiped a lot of it off with a baby wipe which helped to age it. I then used the smallest size of the ~{Sequin Waste Mask}~ to create some interest. I wanted to keep it looking relatively plain.

There are still 3 weeks left to do the challenge, you don't have to use Tando products, but if you have some that would be fab. And you could win a ~{Prize}~ You have to check out the products you can choose from if you win!

Quick and easy Christmas card

Now it's November, we start panicking about making our Christmas cards. Well, I'm not so much as, like last year, I've bought some. Blatently. So I've used the ~{Hanging Bauble Mask}~ from ~{Tando}~ to make a very quick batch of cards.

I masked off the baubles and sponged the leaves onto a few cards, then masked off the leaves and did the baubles. I've just added some Stickles and a couple of gems and then a greeting stamp.

Art Journal Prompt

I've set up a very casual art journal prompt on the craft forum I'm on ~{Bubblyfunk}~ just for fun using fun quotes, so no heavy introspectives allowed. You can get them elsewhere.

I recently joined Pinterest too (link on the right) and have found this to be a great supplier of quotes and inspiration.

I've started us off with this one:

I made the background ages ago and just added the stamps, lettering and doodling. I had to use ~{Smile}~ as he so obligingly shows his teeth and gave him a ~{Crown}~.

I'm working on my lettering still and I think I may have a go at altering this! That's the trouble with lettering while lying on the sofa, always a bit dodgy!!

Stampotique Designer's Challenge - Altered Poison Bottle

It's time for another ~{Stampotique Designer's Challenge}~ and this time ~{Maria}~ is setting it:

"I have a new fun and creative challenge for you all this week. Are you ready for Halloween? Well, guess what? My challenge for you today is an: Altered poison bottle. I have a passion for sweet/spooky bottles and I would love to see your creations using Stampotique stamps.

WARNING: Don't Drink, that's Poison! Happy Halloween Stampotique-creatures!

I've used a cooking sauce bottle for mine. Not that I'm saying my cooking is poisonous! I've also used the dreaded shrink plastic!

I've used the following stamps:
~{Altered Alphas}~ spelling poison and shrunk it into a label.
the skulls from ~{Halloween Cube 1}~ and ~{Halloween Cube 2}~ both on card and using shrink plastic. They came out really teeny tiny so I put one over the first 'O' of poison.
I used Viva Decor opaque gloss pen onto a metal charm base and then added one of the shrunken skulls.

I've used some MME card on the base of the bottle and the tag and added ribbon, Prima flower ribbon, buttons, fibres and black cord to finish the decorating.
I then added the skull circles onto shortened chop sticks.

This time it's a Stampotique stamps only challenge, but if you do this you will be entered into the random draw for the prize of a $30 gift certificate to spend in the ~{Stampotique Store}~ - always a good incentive!

3D Angel

It may still be October, but I couldn't wait any longer to attack this gorgeous ~{3D Angel}~ from ~{Tando}~

I painted the wings, edges and halo with acrylic paint, then stuck Christmas paper onto the body. I stamped text onto the wings, added some Viva Decor Glitter Pen onto the halo and wings and slotted it all together. Very quick and easy.

I wrapped some sweets in tissue paper and sat them on the base and it is all ready for the dinner table!

Well, I say sweets, but in reality they are beads. I'd eaten the sweets before I finished it! Anyone who knows me will not be surprised by this.

Here's another joint DT effort - it's becoming a habit!

I made a quickie card using one of the largest balloons from the Tando ~{Balloon Grab Bag}~. The thing that took the longest was waiting for the Glossy Accents to dry!

I used acrylic paints for the balloon, stamped the greeting (which is an old stamp), doodled and added the GA. I used wire to attach it to ~{Twinkie's}~ hand as he hands it over to ~{Smile}~. The boys have been coloured with Copics.

Stampotique Designer's Challenge - Tagtime

It’s “TAGTIME” this week on the ~{Stampotique Designer's Challenge Blog}~ and ~{Nellie}~ is our hostess this week and here is what she says about her challenge theme:

I love to work on a tag. For me it feels like it somehow invites you to think and work in another way than when you’re making cards. So I challenge you to make a tag or some project in which you use a tag. Any size, any color as long as there’s at least one tag involved in your artwork.

I started off with the computer generated phrase, which I love, and worked from there.

The background has been made using Distress Stains and water and torn into shape. I stamped ~{Fax to Wolfgang}~ and ~{Swirl Stalks}~ onto this and stuck it to the black tag.
The main image is ~{Tetewea}~, and is coloured with Copics.
The flying heart is a charm with some white paint to antique it and the wings are part of ~{Lovely Wings}~.
All finished off with some Gloss Gel, doodling, ribbons and fibres.

This time you can use any stamps, but it'd be great if you used some Stampotiques. As usual, there is the chance to win the random draw for a $30 gift certificate to spend in the ~{Stampotique Originals Store}~

Tando Challenge ~ Spooktastic

This month's theme for the ~{Tando-Creative Challenge Blog}~ is Spooktastic. Again, for this challenge, you don't have to use Tando products, but if you have some, that would be great, and you could be in with the chance of winning a prize from ~{this list}~. It's a brilliant prize too.

I made a Spooky Hanging:

I have used:
the large skull from ~{Pair of Skulls}~ it was whiteboard, so the edges only were painted, then brown ink was smudged around the edge and holes and black card stuck behind;

the square plaque from ~{Plaque Pack 1}~ painted with acrylic paint, then inked using the ~{Cobweb Mask}~. The masking was edged in ink then crackle accents added. Finally edged with inks;

two of the larger bats from ~{Grab Bag of Bats}~ painted with a mix of black and white acrylic paints and black uni posca paint marking the edges. At this point, though, the bats stopped being spooky and became cartoon like. It's just how it happened!

The pieces were joined together using wired paper string.

All of the stamps are by ~{Stampotique}~.

Spooky Printer Tray

I've combined both Design Teams again - I'm so lucky they compliment each other so well!!

For ~{Tando}~, I started with the 15 x 15 cms ~{Printer Tray}~. This one comes with a cover which I've saved to use for another project.
The tray itself comes as three separate identical pieces so you can make your tray the thickness that you prefer. I've used all 3 layers for depth.
I made a background on thick paper using watery Distress Inks, then ran Distress Stain along the top, sprayed this with a bit of water and let it merge and drip. I then added some Dylusions spray ink. This was stuck onto the base of the tray.
I've stuck the 3 layers together with Glossy Accents, then painted them with acrylic paint. Once dry, I've rubbed some brown ink on with my finger.
I took 2 of the smaller bats from the ~{Grab Bag of Bats}~ and coloured them with Distress Stain - how quick and easy was that? I've used my fave Uni Posca white pen for the eyes and inked around the edges.

For ~{Stampotique}~ I went for a selection of stamps from the September 2010 Release.
I have used:
~{Web}~ on the background for one square
the spider and 2 birds from ~{Birds and Bugs Cube}~
~{Tree}~
all of ~{Halloween Cube 2}~
and the bat and skull from ~{Halloween Cube 2}~
I coloured these with Inktense pencils and they have all been stuck with silicone glue to allow dimension. Some have Crackle Accents on them for interest.

I then took a metal lock, key and charm and dabbed them with black acrylic paint which was blotted off after a minute to age them. I then used white rub on letters to spell spooky.

365 Journal Pages

I've got back in the swing of this now and am up to date. I couldn't be bothered to add any images to September's pages though, so I made sure I did them before the month starts for October.

Here's September, taken out in the garden because it is unseasionably hot at the moment. I think it's warmer than it was in August!

Here's October - the background is painted with Eco Green acrylic paints and 2 masks from ~{Tando}~ - the gorgeous ~{Cobweb Mask}~ and the spooky ~{Witch Mask}~ which is really a 2 for 1 as you get the positive and negative option. ~{Stockists of Tando Products}~

All stamps are by ~{Stampotique}~ I've used ~{Altered Alpha}~ for the Month and added the skull from ~{Halloween Cube 2}~ for the first O.

I then used these new stamps by Janet Klein, although in reality they do have arms and legs, but I decided I would chop them off to make it easier to cut them out and because I'm cruel. I've used ~{Corie}~ the witch, ~{Skullboy}~, who has lovely dimensional glossy accent eyeballs just to make them pop out a bit more and ~{Cooper}~

Here's a close up of the witch and I've included the sticky icky patch that I tried to remove, but gave up with!

I'm still not over the 'everything is just too much effort' patch completely and I think that is noticeable in my creations lately - so so sorry to the lovely people who let me be on their design teams. I'm thinking an increase in drugs may be on the cards, but I'm trying to avoid that if at all possible. And I know if Lynne reads this, she will be nagging me to just do it - but isn't that what sisters do?! So *whispers* it'll be our little secret!

Stampotique Designer's Challenge - Humourous birthday card

Firstly, Happy Birthday to you Vicki!!!

~{Vicki}~ has set the challenge this time and she'd like you to make her a humourous card as it's her birthday today. I made this one for her and I'm hoping it has arrived on time:

I found a fun phrase and I think it's quite suitable for her (and for many of us I should think) and used ~{Sweetmoves}~ as she's a party girl. I drew a couple of wine bottles (drawing is not a strong point of mine, but I like that they are BIG bottles) for her to hold. I then stamped a continuous strip of ~{Floral Flutter}~. Everything has been coloured with Copics.

This challenge is for Stampotique only stamps and if you make Vicki a card you will be entered into the random draw for a $30 gift certificate to spend in the ~{Stampotique Store}~.

Wish Upon a Star

I've used 3 of the new stamps by Jo Capper-Sandon for ~{Stampotique}~ and one from the previous release to make this one layer card. Jo has made her stamps so that they can all be interchanged which makes them so versatile.

I have used:
~{Stella}~
~{Wish Word}~
~{Jo's Star}~, and
~{Great Moon}~.

They have been coloured with Copics and the background is Dusky Concord Distress Ink.

I had fun with the cupcake chipboard from ~{Tando}~, but this ended up being a card that can only be hand delivered due to the size of it!

I've used patterned paper for the base and acrylic paint swirled for the creamy bit. Instead of a cherry, I used a flower cut from the flower row, added a flower on top of that which was filled with Viva Decor gels and glitter gel. The whole thing was then sat on a base from the scallop pack.These are the chipboard bits I used:

Stampotique Sponsor CAS-Friday

We are always Clean And Simple and our theme that week will be Mostly Monochromatic, 3 + 1. Use at least 3 shades of the color of your choice monochromatically and then add Chocolate Brown.

I've used ~{Cat and Bird}~ stamped in Teal Stazon and then very carefully shaded with Copics. I had masked off the nose before stamping and coloured that brown and added Glossy Accents. I then used ~{Friends Hold You Up}~ as it went well with the bird on the cat's tail and is such a lovely quote.

Tando Challenge Rustic Charm

This is something I really enjoyed making and it's for the ~{Tando-Creative Monthly Challenge}~ which is in it's second month. This time the theme is Rustic Charm and there are prizes on offer that really are worth winning ~{Click Here To See}~.

I used one of the new ~{Mini Printer Tray's}~ and I have to say they are fab, come in different shapes and sizes and are a bargain. And we like bargains!! They come in layers which allows you to do what you want with them. I just stuck the frame part together to start with and painted it then stuck it to the back once that had been painted, stamped and sanded. I've rubbed ink onto the edges to distress it and then set about putting things into it.

I've used a few Tando pieces for decoration:

The large part of the flower is from the ~{Floral Grab Bag}~
the smaller part is cut from the ~{Flower Row}~
the leaf is from the ~{Tall Leaves}~ and I've trimmed it down to fit
also there's a bird on a branch from ~{Mini Pack of Birds and Branches}~
and I've trimmed down one of the hearts from the ~{Grab Bag of Hearts}~

All pieces have been painted with acrylic paints. If you have the Tim Holtz Tonic Scissors, they will cut the chipboard easily to size.

I've used a selection of metal ephemera I've collected over the years and each was painted with white acrylic paint which was very lightly dabbed away leaving it looking antiqued. I've also used a pebble I made with air drying clay - you just roll it to size and stamp into it then, when it's dried, I've painted it white then used inkpads to colour it. I say 'you just' but it took a bit of practise before I got it right!!

Grrumpy Tag

I made a tag using combining both DT's that I'm on again - love it when I can do that!

I started off with the idea of using the new ~{Crown Quote}~ with ~{Grrrumpy}~ and ~{Crown}~ from Stampotique. His face says it all doesn't it?!
I then used a cloud from the ~{Grab Bag of Clouds}~ from Tando - ~{Stockists Here}~ and added some painty accents from the ~{Stitches Group Mask}~. I finished off with ~{Fresh Picked}~ and some doodled accents and ribbons.

Rain rain go away

I was asked recently to do a guest spot on my lovely and talented crafty friend ~{Kathy's Sketch Blog}~ so I thought what a fab opportunity to share the love of the ~{New Stampotique Stamps!}~

I used ~{Under The Parapluie}~ which seems to be a very firm favourite of the DT, combined with ~{Rain Rain Go Away}~ which is apt here in the UK as we approach Autumn at breakneck speed!

I also used part of ~{Daisy Daisy}~ by masking off the rest of the stamp, then added a few white highlights. The main image is coloured with Copics.

Stampotique Designer's Challenge - Black and White

It's my turn to set the challenge this week over on our ~{Challenge Blog}~ and, because we had so many lovely entries with the last colour challenge I set, I'm going for another. This time I'd like you to do something black and white and add a hint of another colour. I always think this colourway is classy and you really need to head on over to see what the team have come up with.

I went for the new ~{Giant Daisy}~ and embossed it with white powder before adding Magenta Viva Decor Gloss Gel to the centre. I've added ~{Happy Birthday}~ and added some doodling. This one went off to my sister for her birthday last week.

As it's the first challenge of the month, you can use any stamp manufacturer, but it would be great if you did use some Stampotique's. You could be in with the chance to win a $30 gift certificate to spend in the ~{Stampotique Store}~ as well - I look forward to seeing what you come up with.

I made a couple of cards recently using Chipboard Book Plates from ~{Tando}~. They come in two different sizes and are fab for making a focus around a greeting.

I made one fairly simple card with masking, stamping and doodling and another in a more fussy style. Both book plates have been painted with acrylic paint and then edged with Versamagic inkpad. I've added gems over the holes for detail.

Look away now Kathy!!

Yep I have made not 1, but 2 Christmas cards!!
Don't worry though, normal Bah Humbug will resume tomorrow!

Last year I commited the number one crime of the cardmaker; I bought Christmas cards! And, after Christmas, I bought some in the sale for this year! And I don't care and am very happy with that. So. There.
However, there were a couple of new Christmas stamps in the ~{New Release Stampotique's}~ so I thought I'd go for a couple of quick cards using the same layout so I didn't have to think too hard.

On this card I used the new ~{Snowy Fran}~ alongside ~{Snowman}~ and a couple of heart shaped baubles from ~{Hanging Hearts}. I've masked the stamps to form a 'scene' and saved myself a lot of cutting!

I love Daniel Torrente's characters, but I know a lot of people don't and that limits who I could send this card to, but the new releases included a cuter snowy scene by Janet Klein, which would appeal to more people.

On this card I've used the new ~{Snow Family}~.

There is minimal colouring on both cards and I've used Copics which makes them lovely and quick. I've used Viva Decor Glitter Liner for snowflakes as this gives great dimension. Once dry (which is the only thing that takes any time) I've added a little bit of Tumbled Glass DI and drawn a frame.

Back in the 365 game

While I was on holiday, Lynne was looking through my journal and said I ought to start doing the 365 Challenge again as she liked to look at and read the pages. I gave up in April as I was grumpy at doing so little. So I gave myself a good talking to, a kick up the arse, and cheered up ready to start again in August, which was a good time to start as I spent a lot of time at Lynne's and actually did a few things. *whispers* we'll ignore the fact that I'm suffering now as I did have fun.

It's a background of watersoluable wax crayons and gesso, Tando Random Circles Mask ~{Stockists Here}~ and doodling. I did intend to do more than just ~{Carrot}~, but couldn't be bothered to be honest!!!

September is again crayons and gesso and doodled swirls. I have a few stamps in mind to do and am hoping that I will get round to doing them!

Both months are stamped in ~{Altered Alphabet's}~

It was Rach's 17th birthday this week, the day of the stamp release so it really was a manic day by my standards!
I used a combination of new and old Stampotique's for her card.

The older stamps are:

~{Well, la de frickin' dah!}~ I've added some Gloss Gel Pen and white dots for interest on these.

The new stamps used are:

More New Release Stampotiques

Thanks for all the lovely comments from the blog hop yesterday, it was wonderful to hear that you like the new stamps as much as I do; and I really love them!! How can you pick a favourite?! There really is something for everyone in this release.

When I first saw ~{Tetewea}~ my twisted brain saw someone covering their bits with their arms!! I know, warped, always have been, so I did a journal page. I'm sure that she just has drainpipes on, but I can't see that!

I've used ~{Wish Word}~ as part of the background and with white paint, ~{L'il Tatawea}~ and ~{Lovely Wings}~ as a border. Those wings really live up to their name too and I can see me using these lots! The detail is just gorgeous.

Next I decided to make a cute card with more of Janet Klein's new stamps. I love the way they all look shocked, so I made it look like ~{Titus}~ was pinching ~{Grace's}~ bum!! I just can't help myself. I've also used ~{Daniel's Hearts}~ and cut some out and ~{Congratulations!}~

On both projects I have used the sequin waste stencil from ~{Tando}~.

A simple Stampotique card.

This quick card was made just with stamping and doodling.

I stamped ~{9173 Hutching's}~ (so stylish) and ~{9005 Happy Birthday}~onto the card blank and masked them, then I used 2 shades of inkpad on ~{7134 Mesh}~ and doodled some details before adding a button and thread. Kaz xxx

Stampotique Designer's Challenge ~ make us a bookmark

Our challenge from the ~{Stampotique Designer's Challenge}~ to you this time is set by ~{Kate Crane}~

I am always looking for ways to make art which is useful, something I can use in every day life so what better than a bookmark? You can never have enough of these ... I like to use them to mark pages in all of my favourite art publications! You can make any type of bookmark: A traditional straight bookmark, a corner bookmark, a swinging tag ... In any style: Vintage, funky, cute or weird. Anything goes! This time it's Stampotique only stamps and if you are lucky enough to be our random winner, you will receive a $30 gift certificate to spend in the ~{Stampotique Originals Store}~

I created mine using paints, stamps, masks and doodles.

I did a painty background and used the Tando Sequin waste mask and ~{7134 Mesh}~, then stamped some of my fave stamps (I don't know why I say fave stamps so much because I love them all!) and coloured them using Copics. I used:

~{6074 Queen of Life}~

I then doodled quite a bit and attached loads of ribbons so that the bookmark stands far less chance of getting lost!

New Home card for Stampotique.

I've made a quick and easy new home card and the phrase on the stamp is perfect as my sister's friend lives in America and is moving from the east to west coast so is even further away now.

I added two different coloured inkpads randomly to ~{7134 Mesh}~ so it's nice and uneven, then stamped ~{5094 The road to a friend's home is never long}~ on a separate piece of card and coloured it with Copics. It was finished off with 3 gems and some doodled frames.

Stampotique Designer's Challenge ~ Alter a Book Page

This time ~{Val}~ has set the ~{Stampotique Designer's Challenge}~ and she is asking us to alter a book page and she's being very generous and allowing any kind of bookpage - whoo!

In my head this seemed so easy. I hadn't stopped to think properly how to achieve it. It turned out to be far more complicated than I imagined, but I'm stubborn and once I'd started there was no way I was going to back down! As I got nearer to finishing though, I was really enjoying myself.

This started off as a child's thick cardboard book and 4 days later it had morphed into this:

I started off by cutting the middles out of the pages - that hurt! They were so thick! After I'd recovered I stamped the following stamps onto card:
~{6120 Smumanha}~
~{6122 Smushallaum}~
~{6124 Octopet}~ and
~{6078 Smile}~ and coloured them with Copics and added some Glossy Accents.
I stamped ~{7098 Tangled}~ onto acetate.

I made a few sheets of background paper using watercolour crayons and gesso and stamped Tangled randomly on them.

Next I stuck a different piece to each separate page starting with a sheet of background paper and stuck the pages together as I went finishing up with an acetate layer. I then cut a sheet of the paper and made a frame from it to hide the roughened edges! I found a poem about mermaids to write around the edge by Paul Perro on history-for-kids. It reads:

Mermaids have got fish's tails
They cannot walk at all.
They're good at water polo
But suck at basketball.

For the front, I stuck a background paper sheet down and stamped the words using ~{7230 Altered Alpha}~. The final bit of stamping was done using ~{3031 Abstract Foliage}~ onto the last of the background paper.

It was all stuck down and then I added a clear Fragment type tag with Glossy Accent for Smile's scuba helmet. I had a bit of an accident and added a bit too much, but by this point there wasn't much to do except mop it up as best as possible.

It was all finished off with loads of doodling. I am now having to explain why I am keeping this one. I shall be searching Lucy when she leaves my home!!!

A Bee in My Bonnet Canvas

One of the best things of being on the design team for two fab companies, is when you have an idea and can find just the right bits from both of them to use. It happened last week when I wanted to make this canvas.

My youngest niece, Lucy, was the original inspiration as she has inherited the 'bee in my bonnet' gene that is common in our family! During one particular 'episode' recently, she came out with the phrase which made my sister and I giggle. I knew I had to use it somehow.

I knew that I would use one of Daniel Torrente's girls and a big head and the bees from ~{Stampotique}~, but then Di from ~{Tando}~ released a ~{Bee Set}~ that included a beehive so that just had to become the hat.

I used some of the chipboard clouds from the ~{Grab Bag}~ as masks and sprayed two colours of blue ink onto the canvas then blotted it. I painted the bottom part purple and used the flower from the ~{Leaves 1 Mask set}~ and painted green paint over it. I then painted a separate sheet of card purple and masked the flowers and cut some out. The beehive has been painted with acrylic paint. All of these parts had a hefty dose of doodling on them. I chose to use the body of ~{6071 Perl}~ and ~{6086 Clover's}~ head and the bees just had to come from ~{3000 Medium Bee and Tiny Bee}~.

The phrase is computer generated using the font Anywhere But Home.

Needless to say, I have 'lost' the canvas already!

Birdy page

I've had a scrap of an old Dream Street paper on my desk for ages with the one remaining bird on it. I loved the birds on the sheet, but can't bring myself to use the last one, so I did my own version for a journal page and now I can still have the original for me!

The background is acrylic paints with a randomly positioned text stamp. For the edges I've used some of the new ~{Tando-Creative}~ masks.

I used the ~{Leaves 1}~ which is both the leaves and the flowers, and one row of ~{Sequin Waste}~. I then had lots of fun doodling around them to make them pop.

Tando-Creative Challenge Blog Launch

There's a brand new challenge blog starting up today called ~{Tando-Creative Challenge Blog}~ and it's all about the chipboard! As I'm on the DT for the chipboard, I get to play along, but I can't win any prizes!

The first challenge is 'Go Wild' and I've made a little framed picture using ~{Scalloped Nested Circles}~.

I painted the base and frame in white acrylic paint and then drew a zebra pattern over it and printed the wording on the computer. Then I stamped ~{Toby}~ and ~{Prom Queen}~ as I think she is a wild one and stuck the card onto the base. I've fixed the base that I had doodled around and frame together so the base showed behind.

Tando-Creative is still a relatively new company so, at the moment, you don't have to use their chipboard exclusively. However, I'd urge you to give it a try as it really is sturdy stuff and withstands a lot of battering with paints and inks and is embossable. Is that a word?!

Di is very generously providing a prize for one random player who follows all the rules (available on the Challenge Blog) and you have a choice from a huge list so you can pick what you like most.

Catch up - warning photo heavy!

It's been quiet on the blogging front again with me as I went on holiday and had been concentrating on getting organised with DT stuff and going away stuff. It takes me forever, but I got there. I went away with family ~{here}~ and took a journal with me with pages completed to the point of doodling and writing. It was great finishing the pages each day. Here's a couple of them:

All of the letters are using Stampotique stamps, the large are ~{7230 Altered Alphas}~ and the smaller are ~{9200 Random Acts Alphas}~. The green circles on Thursday are made using the ~{Random Circles Mask}~ and the ~{Clock Mask}~ on Friday are both by ~{Tando-Creative}~.

The images are made up from my picture stash which includes freebies, magazine pictures, Tumblefish Studio, Itkupilli - I have them all in a box so I'm afraid I couldn't be more specific.
I used the journal that I used to do the 365 Journaling in. I gave that up as my days were so dull, but my sis persuaded me to start up again as she said she likes to see the pages. So, just for Lynne, here's my August page ready to start again tomorrow.

Again I've used the Altered Alphabet and Circles mask as before and the rest is watercolour crayons and gesso and a huge amount of doodling!

Stampotique Designer's Challenge ~ Sizzling colours

It's my turn to set the ~{Stampotique Designer's Challenge}~ and I've gone for a nice and easy one for you.

When I took this week for my challenge back in the Winter, I thought it would be lovely and Summery so I decided to set a colour challenge using the sizzling colours of red, yellow and orange. I should have known better really as I do, after all, live in England. It's been positively Autumnal this month. Rain, wind and grey skies. Yuk. So I'd like you to help entice the sunshine back to help warm up my cold toes!!

I decided to make another 5 x 5 in canvas and did the background using the ~{Shaving Foam Technique}~ that Willy did a year ago. I shall be using this again it was fun and messy.

~{6116 Gobby Lin}~ and ~{6118 Gog Lin}~ are sheltering from the sun under ~{6112 Tree}~. I've punched some circles from Basic Grey paper, distressed the edges, doodled and added Viva Decor Glossy Gel for flowers on the tree.

I've then used one of the characters from ~{6099 Halloween Cube 1}~ who is looking very cute under ~{6050 Relaxin's }~ umbrella. Just to finish off I've stamped ~{3035 World All Her Own}~ and rearranged the words.
The sun is from a Tando Cogs Mask.

Stampotique Designer's Challenge ~ Flower Power

The challenge this time has been set by the very lovely and very talented ~{Gez}~ and the title is Flower Power.
My entry was heavily influenced by what I was watching on tv the weekend I made it - Glastonbury.

~{Minkygirl}~ had to wear flowers in her hair - isn't that what flower power is all about? I've doodled on the flowers and given them a dimensional centre using Viva Decor Gloss pen. I did toy with giving ~{Toby}~ a headband too, after all, he has the forehead for it! Instead I just gave him some flowers to give to Minky that I cut from ~{Abby's hearts}~. All images were coloured with Copics.

These were all stuck onto a base made from card painted with acrylic paints. I stamped ~{Daisy Daisy}~ onto the base and coloured the flowers with my trusty white pen (Uni Posca - best white pen I've found) then dotted the centres as before. I finished off with a doodled border.

For this challenge you can use any stamps, but it'd be great if you use any Stampotique's you may have. You will then be entered into the random draw for a $30 Gift Certificate to spend in the ~{Stampotique Store}~. Oooo $30 worth of stamps = how fab is that?!!

reasons to be cheerful

It's been a bit quiet on the crafty front again lately and if I was still doing the 365 Journal, Grrrumpy dog would have made a lot of appearances! However, the grumps are gone and I'm back to usual happy girl status so I got back to journaling.

This one's an acrylic paint and patterned paper effort. I've used the large and small sized ~{Sequin Waste Mask}~ from Tando and ~{6086 Clover}~ and one of the hearts from ~{3003 Hearts Cubed}~ both by Stampotique.
The arms and legs came from a magazine and I've had the letters sat doing nothing for ages and haven't a clue where they came from.
I've finished off with a hefty dose of doodling and it's funny to think that, not too long ago, the thought of taking a pen to paper was petrifying and now I don't know when to stop!!

Splattered madness

I wanted to make another mini canvas this time using the Splatters mask by ~{Tando-Creative}~ and 3D paste (I use Reeves). I painted the background in acrylic paint then added the paste through the mask with a palette knife, leaving the surface rough for added texture. I couldn't wait for it to dry, so used the heat gun and this has given it a slightly spongey texture rather than the usual firmness if it's left to dry naturally. I then painted the paste with acrylic paint and when this was dry highlighted the texture with DI's.

Once this was done I looked for a phrase and then found the stamps to go with it. I think with those grins they fit the bill perfectly!

I've coloured them with Copics and given them some googly eyes just to finish them off! I'm sure I'm not the first person to do this, but it just felt right!! I finished off with another dose of doodling.

For my card, I stamped ~{2005 Floral Display}~ onto scraps of patterned paper, cut them out and stacked them to form 3D flowers. I then stamped ~{8865 Perhaps the are not stars ..}~ onto a scrap of white card, die cut the shape around it and lightly coloured the edge.

The Leaf Flourish chipboard by ~{Tando-Creative}~ isn't really a scrap, but it has been pushed around my desktop for the last couple of months so I'm classing this as one!!!

Another simple card

When you say Stampotique, most people will immediately think of Jill Penney and Daniel Torrente, but there are a whole batch of other designer's stamps also in the store. Today I'm showing a stamp by Susan Mahoney who has lots of really cute/odd creatures within her collection of stamps. You can view her collection ~{here}~

I've used ~{8575 Cube}~ and made a card along the lines of the Less is More challenge on my previous post, this time I've doodled! I've coloured with Copics and added Glossy Accents to the balloon and his eyes.I also used my most favourite birthday greeting stamp ~{9005 Happy Birthday}~.

Less is More

I've decided to officially do this week's ~{Less is More}~ Challenge as I've made a few, but just not blogged them. I love them because they are so quick to do (provided I don't cock up) and that's really satisfying.

Stampotique Designer's Challenge ~ Clean and Simple

These weeks are flying by, it only seems like yesterday the acetate challenge went live and here we are with another ~{Stampotique Designer's Challenge}~!

This time it's ~{Joanne's}~ turn to set the challenge and she would like you to make a Clean and Simple card. As it's the first challenge of the month you can use any stamp, but if you have Stampotique stamps it would be great to see them. As usual, Carol and Jim are donating a $30 Gift Certificate to spend in the ~{Stampotique}~ Store for one randomly chosen player.

I love this style of card, I think they are classy, but I know some find the white space daunting. Myself, I have to doodle the edges, I just can't leave them blank!

I doodled the border and then drew coloured lines in bright coloured pens across the card blank. Then I've stamped ~{9165 Carol's Flower Large}~ onto white card, coloured it with Distress Inks as watercolours before cutting it out and sticking to the card. I've finished off with ~{9005 Happy Birthday}~

Splat!!

Another card featuring both DT Companies! I managed to get my hands on one of the new masks by ~{Tando}~ This one is ~{Splatters}~ and is very versatile as you can use just one of them as a 'layer' onto a card or use them all together as a background.

I've stamped ~{6028 Framed}~ and ~{9005 Happy Birthday}~ by ~{Stampotique}~ directly onto the card blank and masked them off before using one of the splats from the Mask.

I've used Broken China and Faded Jeans DI's for the splat and coloured the image with Copics, then added a doodled border.

2 for 1 Grrrumpy canvas

I've combined both my DT's for this one to make up for being very slack lately. I started with the phrase and worked from there.

The canvas has been painted and then attacked from all sides.

For ~{Tando}~ I have sprayed using the ~{Harlequin Mask}~ and then chopped bits off some of the chipboard. I've taken a piece from the ~{Butterfly Grab Bag}~ and cut the bottom wings off, then embossed it using a Tim Holtz mask, picking a symmetrical area before painting it. I've then chopped the individual flowers from the ~{Small Flower Row}~ and painted and doodled them.

For ~{Stampotique}~ I've stamped ~{6071 Perl}~, ~{5165 Grrrumpy}~ and ~{5609 Conehat}~ and coloured them with Copics. I thought Grrrumpy's face was perfect for the phrase! I look like that sometimes too!

They have then been doodled and accented and doodled some more!

DCM - Passion for Fashion

It's got to be months since I last did a ~{DCM}~ card, but I need some more cards and I actually had an idea for this one.

The theme is fashion and what could be better than Bee bringing Bird Legs a matching handbag for her shoes and hat? The stamps have been coloured with Copics and the background coloured with Distress Inks.

Stampotique Designer's Challenge ~ Acetate

It's time for another ~{Stampotique Designer's Challenge}~ and it's ~{Willy's}~ turn to set it and she'd like us to use acetate. I've had acetate in my stash for a while and have only used it once or twice, but I really enjoyed making this one.

To start with, I used 3D texture paste onto the acetate and swirled it around, leaving the centre clear. While that was drying I stamped ~{6092 Carrot}~, coloured him with distress inks as watercolours and cut him out. I then stamped ~{3046 Floral Flutter}~ on card the same size as the acetate, coloured the images then smudged distress inks onto the background.

Once the 3D paste was dry I just added some adirondack ink over the top and assembled the layers using silicone glue so that the whole thing was in 3D and Carrot was inviting you into his garden. I finished off with computer generated wording.

It'd be great to see what you come up with, but remember this time it's a Stampotique only challenge. Don't forget there's the chance to win a $30 certificate to spend in the ~{Stampotique Originals}~ Store.

Tando Masks

I've finally finished the box I took to the retreat last weekend and had plans to do loads of stamping on it but, as soon as I saw the masks from ~{Tando-Creative}~ that Di took with her, that all changed! The masks are such a good quality as they are slightly thicker than most other ones I have used which means they don't flick up as you are using them.

First off I painted the box using 3 colours of Eco Green Acrylic paints then, for the border, I used the Stitches Group mask with white acrylic paint and doodled around them. They are so easy to line up.

I then used the Random Circles mask with Distress Ink on the body of the box.

Seeing as it's a box to hold some stamps, I had to do a little stamping so I used
~{6119 Hanging Hearts}~
and ~{6006 Two Sticks}~ who I decided needed a hairdo like they'd been plugged into the mains!
These were stamped onto chipboard shapes that had been painted and some highlights added.

The tiny hearts and ribbons are from my stash and I printed the wording. Naturally it's all finished off with a load of doodling - I find it so relaxing to sit and add bits and pieces and I have to remind myself that not too long ago I would never have trusted myself to just add things done by hand.

Bubbly Retreat

Last weekend it was our third annual crafty retreat at ~{Eaton Manor}~ in Shropshire and it was so much fun again. 13 of us went and, as soon as we got there, it felt like we'd only met up last week!

This is what I made:

I had a bit of a ~{Tando}~fest as I have been neglecting this DT lately. Mind you, I had a lack of mojo for some of the weekend! The desk tidy basket and heart thingy are destined for display purposes and I'm still working on finishing the big case thing. I took the art journal class with the help of ~{Karen}~. I say 'took a class' but I am no expert and am still learning, but I was able to share a few background techniques that I love using. What was really good though was how everyone who did it carried on afterwards and some others joined in too. It was lovely seeing everyone just get messy and painty and be really happy creating.

This is the room in the cottage which could have been designed for retreats it's so huge! PLease excuse the photos as my camera is on it's last legs and doesn't want to focus too well.

Look at all the stash!!! Here's Paddy rifling through Sue's desk - we all took away shopping lists of things we need. Luckily I love spending other people's money and now quite a few are buying watercolour crayons and black and white pens!!

We ate loads (mostly cake) and had a few drinks - I won't name names as I fear I will be incriminated, but YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!!!! Pimms goes down very well on a crafty afternoon (so I've been told - cough cough)! But most of all we laughed all weekend and it was over all too soon.

Stampotique Designer's Challenge ~ Recycle

There's been a distinct lack of creativeness around these parts lately, the mojo decided to take itself off for a little holiday and is very slow at coming back. But we have a new challenge at ~{Stampotique Designer's Challenge Blog}~ and this time it's courtesy of ~{Valerie}~ who would like us to make use of items that would otherwise be sent to landfill. So recycle something for us to come and have a look at.

I struggled a bit to start with as, due to enforced lack of funds, I haven't bought much lately so haven't had a great deal of things to recycle!! It's torture I can tell you!! Luckily, my aunt came to the rescue by buying me these candles for the table in my kitchen (did I mention I've got a new kitchen?) so I rescued the patterned card and ribbon.

I made a card and matching gift tag using ~{2061 Birds Of A Feather}~ by Maryse Carrier. Luckily I found some cardstock to match and coloured the image with Copics.

I stamped ~{9005 Happy Birthday}~ by Janet Klein and added the ribbon and some flowers.

For this challenge you can use any stamps, but of course it was be great to see any Stampotiques you have. You will then be in with a chance of winning the random draw to win a $30 Gift Certificate to spend in the ~{Stampotique Originals Store}~.

Ok so while making the card for the Stampotique challenge, I stamped some extra images (I usually muck up at least one) and was having a play with them, when I came up with an idea for a mini canvas. And I decided that, as a rather large amount of things I make end up in the custody of the Magpie, I'd do something for Rach for a change. If she doesn't like it, I know where it will be!

This is a 5 x 7 inch canvas and I've painted the background with eco green paints and then stamped ~{6001 Bla bla bla}~
I've stamped ~{9216 Pretty Party Dress}~ on various scraps and joined them together. To go with them, and as Rach loves to wear lovely big boots with her dresses, I've used the feet from ~{6408 Moth Fab}~, ~{6108 Karin}~ and ~{6103 Twinkie}~ onto the same scraps.
I've finished off with ~{6086 Clover}~ who looks suitably distressed by the pc generated phrase.

Stampotique Designer's Challenge ~ Sketch

It's time for another challenge from ~{Stampotique Designer's Challenge}~ and it's a sketch this time, designed by ~{Kim Howard}~ who does loads of work behind the scenes on the blog.

As it's the last challenge of the month, it's Stampotique stamps only this time. And, don't forget, if you enter you stand a chance of winning the $30 Certificate to spend in the ~{Stampotique Originals}~ Store.

I wanted to combine ~{9216 Pretty Party Dress}~ by Janet Klein with ~{6086 Clover}~ by Daniel Torrente and she needed some arms and legs so I used ~{6103 Twinkie}~ for the arms and ~{6125 Minkygirl}~ for the legs, both by Daniel Torrente. The dress has been paper pieced using various scraps and the rest coloured with Copics. The message is computer generated.

When I looked at the finished 'person', she didn't look quite right, so that's why I made it into a get well soon card! She needed some flowers, but really they had to be a bit droopy too to fit in with the rest of her.

something else for the kitchen

Despite having a mega list of things to make for birthdays and DT deadlines, not to mention sorting the tip that is my craft room, I decided it best to make something for myself. Of course.

So I've painted, stamped, embossed and doodled these 8 x 8 inch canvas boards for the kitchen.

I've stuck them on this wall to break up the white.

Hhhmm I should have moved the coffee stuff first!

Finally!

Sooooo .......... I may have mentioned that my lovely parents have spent my inheritance on ...... me!! Well, a new kitchen for me that is, and it's finally finished!! I cannot begin to tell you how happy this kitchen has made me, mainly because it makes my day to day life that little bit easier. The old cupboards had been positioned too high by the previous owners, I had to bend down to get to the fridge and oven and I didn't have a dishwasher (apart from my parents when they came round)!

So I'm going to show off, because I can and I love it.

I painted the wooden {cook} above the splashback and am in the middle of making a canvas for the pink wall.
All I need now are some blinds for the window and something to cover the cupboard under the stairs.

I read the news today, oh boy - Stampotique Designer's Challenge

This time ~{Jo Capper-Sandon}~ is setting our challenge on the ~{Stampotique Designer's Blog}~ and she would like you to use old newpaper/magazines/book pages within your project.

As it is the first challenge of the month, you can use any stamps, but it would be great to see any Stampotique's you have. And, as always, Carol and Jim are donating a $30 gift certificate to one lucky challengee to spend in the ~{Stampotique Originals Store}~ and who wouldn't want that?!!! Before I was on the DT, I used to wish very hard that I'd win it as I had a HUMUNGOUS wishlist (I still have)!

I thought I'd go for a vintage feel card so chose to use ~{9154 Little Friends}~ by Janet Klein which I coloured with Distress Inks used as watercolours. I used Wild Honey, Aged Mahogany and Rusty Hinge and then used them to edge the torn book pages and card base.
The greeting is ~{9005 Happy Birthday}~ also by Janet Klein.

I wanted to keep this fairly simple so just finished off with a Prima flower and button and some lace.

Birthday Queen

After seeing the fab 'Snarky' and 'Fabulous' stamps in the new batch from ~{Stampotique}~ , I decided to use my ~{7230 Altered Alphas}~ to do a card along the same lines. I started by stamping 'Queen' onto the card and worked backwards from there.

I then used another set of alphas ~{9200 Random Acts Alphabet}~ to stamp 'birthday' onto white card and cut them out and arranged them around the card so I'd be able to use ~{6125 Minkygirl}~. She was coloured with Copics and cut out too.

I finished off with stamping ~{3046 Floral Flutter}~ and a couple of ~{3017 Crown}~'s and a rather large dose of doodling. I just don't seem to be able to stop myself from doing that!!

Better late than never for March and April

Here's my March pages for the ~{365 Journal via Kate's Blog}~ and I can't quite believe we're a quarter way through the year already.
It's been an up and down month while the kitchen was being fitted and it's just the little fiddly bits left now!!!! I am loving it sooooooooooo much and it has really made a difference to me. I'll put a pic on here when it's finished as the chimney hood is causing a few problems and it doesn't look too good still!

By the 3rd time I used ~{5165 grrrumpy dog}~ I thought I needed something different to a hat so I used the hair from ~{9092 art angels}~ instead. He looks extra grumpy with that on!

It was lovely to stay at my parents while the chaos was going on as I got really looked after. It was also fun to be there when mum's cousin's came round for the afternoon -see the 3rd!!!!` See it must be in the genes and how I am is nothing I can control!!!!!

As I love the new mermaid stamps by ~{Stampotique}~ I just had to use them, so the background was made using Dylusion inks and lots of water. The April is stamped using ~{Altered Alphas}~

I've then added a load of doodling - yawn!

I know I'm early for Mother's Day but I thought I'd blog it anyway

Mum's having a bit too much celebrating lately what with her anniversary and now Mother's Day!! Still, she's worth it.

After all the fiddling and faffing with embossing, painting and flower arranging of the anniversary stuff, I decided to go clean and simple this time.

I've stamped ~{9165 Carol's Flower Large}~ onto some Basic Grey papers and embossed with black powder, then cut out.

Next, I've stamped 'Mum' using ~{9288 Random Acts Alphabet}~ and embossed in black, then carefully cut the letters out. They have been added to circles with silicone glue. It was fiddly, but I like the layered dimension.

Both stamps are by Janet Klein.

I've finished off with a computer generated greeting and a hefty dose of doodling.

Happy Golden Wedding Anniversary Mum and Dad

I can't even begin to get my head around being married to the same person for 50 years! But Mum and Dad have managed it and stayed relatively sane!

I saved these hearts from ~{Tando}~ especially for this card when I received them for DT-ing. I ran the large heart and the photo frame (also from Tando) through the cuttlebug embossing folder. I did wonder how it would go as I know how sturdy the chipboard is after battering it about a lot in the past, but it embossed beautifully and I shall be doing it more often.

I've painted it with gold acrylic paint, then used some metallic rub-ons to highlight the embossing and finished off with throwing loads of flowers at it!! The '50' is stamped with ~{9200 Random Acts Alphabet}~ by Janet Klein for Stampotique.

As Lynne and I have given them tickets to see ~{Million Dollar Quartet}~ we needed a wallet to put the tickets in. I had to use non-Tando chipboard for this (sorry Di!) and did exactly the same with this. The base is half a sheet of Bazzill card folded in on itself and stuck at the sides - very simple to make. The 50 for this is a Tim Holtz Alphabet die.

Stampotique Designer's Challenge ~ Triptych Card

It's time for another ~{Stampotique Designer's Challenge}~ and this time it's set by ~{Vicki Garrett}~ who would like us to make a Triptych card. She has provided link to ~{Mirkwood Design's}~ for the template.
As is usual for me, I got in a bit of a mess while making this as the design goes onto both sides and I am a mucky crafter. This is the 3rd effort!!

I've made a dinky little arch and have used Distress Inks, Copics and Adirondack Dye inks for the colouring.

And here is the inside:

I tried, really I did, not to add doodling around the edges, but the pen made me.

I have used the following stamps:

~{3000 Medium Bee }~ by Jo Capper-Sandon. I used the small bee on the side.
~{3010 Mushroom Group}~ by Jo Capper-Sandon.

Snarky or Fab?

There are two word stamps amongst the new releases from ~{Stampotique}~ so I wanted to use them both on something. I've made a bookmark for me and, depending on my mood, I can use either side as the front.

I think that ~{8989 Snarky}~ , part of Carol's Collection, goes really well with the expression on ~{5165 Grrrumpy's}~ face.

I've given him a little friend ~{6123 Hare}~ by Daniel Torrente to cheer him up and some flowers ~{3042 Jo's Flower Cube}~ by Jo Capper-Sandon and a new hat, but no joy there!

On the other hand, ~{8990 Fabulous}~ from Carol's Collection describes ~{6125 Minkygirl}~ by Daniel Torrente perfectly.

I've used Basic Grey papers for both sides and doodled all over the place.
The centres of the flowers are Viva Decor Gloss Gel Pen which have had white pen added once dry.

More New Release Stampotiques

I couldn't resist having another play with some of the new releases from ~{Stampotique}~.

This time I've coloured the background with distress inks - I'd ordered some textured card blanks by mistake and wasn't sure about them, but I actually like them with a hint of colour.

I've used:

~{3043 Lavender Sprig}~ by Jo Capper-Sandon. I can see me using this one a lot.
~{3047 Large Butterfly}~ by Jo Capper-Sandon. And it is large!
The Thank You stamp is part of ~{6115 Weasel}~ by Daniel Torrente.

I've used watercolour crayons to colour the lavender and butterfly, and did a tiny bit of doodling to highlight the butterfly.

Stampotique New Release!!

Oh yes!! Carol and Jim from ~{Stampotique Originals}~ have been working very hard to get the 18 new beauties out and there really is something for everyone in there!

You can see them all ~{here}~!

The Design Team have been playing and you can see what they have created on their own personal blogs which you can link to from the ~{Designer's Blog}~.

I have made 2 things to show on the Release Day - I couldn't decide which to blog first so I'm doing them both!

I have used ~{3044 Great Moon}~ by Jo Capper-Sandon
~{3045 Small Moon}~ by Jo Capper-Sandon - for the smaller background stars.
and ~{6017 Quasimoto 5}~ by Jill Penney - which isn't a new release, but works so well with the moon.
The background is made using watercolour crayons and gesso. The colouring is done using Twinkling H2O's.

I just LOVE the new mermaid stamps!! And I knew exactly what I wanted to use them for first off.

When my niece, Lucy, was 3 or 4 she used to get me to read The Little Mermaid to her over and over again. It got a bit boring so I used to change Ariel's name to other washing powders! She would shout 'it's Ariel!' at me and then, if I just called her Ariel, she'd say, 'do the funny names!' So that's why I have renamed the mermaids - I haven't been paid to mention them!

These are all Daniel Torrente's work (as if you needed to be told that).

So we have ~{6122 Smushallaum}~ as Ariel,

~{6121 Smushasha}~ as Persil, and

~{6120 Shumanha}~ as Bold 2 in 1 all on 4" canvases with painty backgrounds.

One of the layers on the background is ~{7098 Tangled}~ by Amy Wilson Wellenstein. It got a bit hidden so I've picked out some of the swirls with pink H2O. I also stamped this around the sides of the canvases.

I'm hoping to get some more made up later this week, but go and have a mooch around the blogs to see what loveliness the team has made.

Stampotique Designer's Challenge ~ Animals and insects

It's my turn to set the challenge on the ~{Stampotique Designer's Challenge Blog}~ and it ties in brilliantly with my youngest niece's birthday which is this Friday. She will be 12 and, as well as being my crafting buddy, (or should that read stealer of my stash?) she is a huge animal lover. So I would like you to make something using an animal stamp.

I'm being to be very generous and allow the animal to include birds, bees, butterflies or other insects too.

I went for an easel card as I like them!

I've started with a border of hearts around both parts, then tapped an inkpad onto white card and stamped the hearts again. It took an age to cut them out and stick them with silicone glue - what a nightmare on the tiny ones. It got a bit messy.

I then stamped Tune, which I love, and used Distress Inks as watercolours. I love the fact it looks a bit like a Dr Seuss character - I think it's a sort-of dog.

I stamped the Medium Bee onto vellum and added those. I think that Tune could probably float and fly without wings. You only have to look at the feet to see that! And those feet are doing well to hold onto the Birthday greeting.

As it's the first challenge of the month, you are able to use any stamps, but we would love it if you have any Stampotique's that fit the bill. 365 Journal February

How on earth have 2 months of the year disappeared already? It's unbelievable. Anyway, another month has been filled up and it was much better than the last one as I found out I could get help with NHS costs. This was a huge relief.

So here's Feb's pages:

So, as I can afford to stay at my flat, it means that I could have the kitchen done. Now before anyone asks how can I afford it, let me tell you it's a gift from my parents instead of waiting for it to be done with any inheritance and it will make a huge difference to my day to day life. I will have a dishwasher!!! And lower wall cupboards!!! And an eye level oven (or onion as I told Karen) and fridge!!! Little things that will make a massive change to me.

I'm staying at my parents while its done, which is great because I don't have to cook! There's not a great deal of crafting going on, but I did March's pages using all Stampotique stamps and a hefty amount of doodling.

I used watercolour crayons and white acrylic paint for the base, and the following stamps:

Stampotique Designer's Challenge ~ Faux Barnwood

Weare so excited today at ~{Stampotique Designer's Challenge!}~ Have we got the ultimate challenge for youtoday!

Our hostess this week,~{ Monique}~ challenged our team to use a technique on theircreation. And, we decided to take it a step further and what better placeto turn than Pat Huntoon of the ~{Technique Junkie Newsletter}~. ~{Stampotique}~ is teamingup with the TechniqueJunkies team to create using the Faux Barnwood Technique. We want you to join us thisweek and you can use the Faux Barnwood Technique or any of the techniques Pat uses on herwebsite.

What are you playing for this week? Oh.....good question! How about we give away 2 prizes this week along with 2winners??? This technique caused a lot of debate amongst the DT as a lot of us struggled at first and we were thinking we'd never manage it. One by one, though, we got there and although some have said they will not use it again, others are happy to.

I ended up making a small canvas and I think the surface texture helped to keep the cracks smaller. When I tried on plain card it was sliding off everywhere!! I have to say though that Lucy, my 11 year old niece, truly showed me up by perfecting the technique with her first attempt!!

What no Stampotique?

Yep, I've managed to make something Stampotique-less! I'd painted up and stamped the base before leaving for Lynne's so I just had the decorating and doodling to do.

The body and feathers came from a magazine and the face was part of ~{Milliande's downloads}~ for her Journal January. This was day 15.
I found the quote from a free quote site and loved it. It was just right for the feathers. I've just doodle loads all over the page and loved every bit of doing it.

Stampotique Designer's Challenge ~ Love or Valentine

It's time for another Challenge on ~{Stampotique Designer's Blog}~ and this time ~{Kim Howard}~ is asking you to make something with a love theme.

We are doing things a little differently this time as we now have lots of designer's on the team, all of whom are showcasing the many different styles you can create with the ~{Stampotique Originals}~ range. We will be revealing a few cards at a time over the next week, so don't forget to keep clicking back for lots of inspiration.

As it's the first challenge of the month, you can use any stamps on your project but, of course, if you have Stampotique's we'd love to see them. You can be in with the chance of winning the very generous $30 voucher to spend in the Stampotique store.

I made a background using watercolour crayons blended with gesso with a few painty circles stamped on it, then cut a heart from it and dotted the edge.

I used ~{9077 Bird Legs}~ by Janet Klein, coloured her with Copics and made sure she took a jewelled heart charm to wherever she was going. She wouldn't tell me, something about it being a secret on Valentine's Day!

Tando Creative photo frame

I've been playing with the ~{Valentine Symbols Set From Tando-Creative}~ and have used the funky 'love' to decorate a photo frame. I decided to use the 'less is more' style as what could show love more than a girl with her dog? This is my niece, Lucy, and my hairy niece Jessie! Partners in crime they are!

I have painted the love using acrylic paint. I always take the extra time to paint the edges - if you do this I would advise you to paint the edges first and leave the front until last to give it a smoother finish.I doodled around the letters to make them pop, then used a couple of layers of UTEE. The frame itself is just a very cheap wood one painted with black acrylic paint.

The Altered Alice sponsored by Stampotique

~{Stampotique}~ are sponsoring another challenge this month, this time it's for the launch of ~{The Altered Alice}~. There is the chance to win a $30 voucher to spend in the Stampotique Store.

The first challenge is for Dress Forms or something that changes it's form. I decided to use ~{6108 Karin}~ as Alice and turned her into a butterfly - after the blue caterpilla has changed!

I used ~{6109 Daniel's Hearts}~ with Perfect Pearls for the top wings and ~{3031 Abstract Foliage}~ on the edges of the lower wings.
I used ~{3002 Daisy Daisy}~ on the base of the card along with a stencilled circle.

I did toy with the idea of cutting Karin's feet off, but that was just a bit too barbaric, so my butterfly has lovely clumpy shoes!

Jan and Feb 2011 pages

Well it's Feb already - I can't believe it, but it must be true as I've filled up January's pages. There are a lot more people taking part in the 365 Journal via ~{TheKathrynWheel}~ with Kate, who is also one of the new designer's for ~{Stampotique}~ whoo Kate!

So here is January's pages. It's been a weird month with huge, enormous lows and lots of arty inspiration via many new journal blogs.

I'm really hoping that Feb will be a lot more of an even keel - I don't think I can take any more! I decided to use soft colours this month to encourage that, but I am sure that ~{grrrumpy}~ dog will make an appearance! I love that stamp. I used watercolour crayons and then painted gesso over it. This really blends the colours together.

Stampotique CPS #203

~{Stampotique Originals}~ are proud to be sponsoring a Sketch from ~{CPS Card Sketches}~ this week. If you go over to their blog you will see some of the cards we created, the others will be on the ~{Stampotique Blog}~. This is the card I created

Of course I had to fiddle with the sketch, but I only went as far as mirroring it. I used the lovely ~{6100 Linda}~, ~{3003 Heart Cube}~ and gave her ~{6077 Batboy's}~ hat.

The 'happy' is Prima lettering that I've doodled on for definition and the 'birthday' is Maya Rd rub-on lettering.

Stampotique and Tando Frame

I love it when I can combine my two DT's and as soon as I saw this Chipboard Frame by ~{Tando-Creative}~ I knew I had to use it to showcase some of my fave characters by Daniel Torrente and Jill Penney from ~{Stampotique Originals}~ . It's a bit like a bizarre Brady Bunch!

The frame has been painted using Eco Green Paints in Raspberry and then I added white dots using a Uni Posca pen - the best white pen around I think.
I've added text paper behind the larger frames and just white paint behind the tiny ones.
I've used Copics to colour all the characters and stuck them with silicone glue for dimension.

Milliande's January Journalling

I've now finished day 6 of the course from ~{Milliande's}~ visual journey, after sitting on it for a few days. This one is called Millipede Me, but I haven't done me I just gave it a thing face! Don't know what you'd call it really!

It's body is a little like mine though - I have a few uneven bumps in the wrong places!!

Even though it's taking a while to do them, I'm really enjoying the videos and other people's journal pages. There's so much inspiration on there.
